Jesper Veltrop

I am Jesper Veltrop, my interests go out to architecture, design, art and urban space. I find it hard to put into words what kind of designer I am, what kind of designer I would like to be in the future. I feel like I am at the beginning of my career. I feel related to many directions within the designer’s guild, and have a broad interest. I have a fascination for useful useless objects and interventions in public space, such as for example the KAPKAR/TT-C2P Cinema of Frank Havermans.
I challenge myself by trying to think and to look between the borders of abstract, autonomous visual arts and design, this means that I would like to think and design out of the box. I also find it nice to see myself not as a specific kind of designer, because I think that I might thereby limit myself in the design process. I love to experiment with materials and use scale models. In addition, I believe in the power crafts and prefer to use digital technology as little as possible, first because its not one of my strength and secondly because I am convinced that this affects the signature of the designer.
